This is a very simple snack bar to satisfy the little hunger, which is traditionally described as a pasteli, which simply means a sesame and honey bar.

Portions: 8-16 pcs.

140 g sesame
140 g honey
50 g of sugar
1 lemon peel, grated
pinch of salt
10 g pistachios

  1. To make and mold these sesame and honey bars, I have used a 2 liter rye bread mold of approx. 10 x 30 cm.
  2. You can also choose to use a different shape, because it doesn't matter if the bars are square or oblong.
  3. Line the form with baking paper greased with a little oil.
  4. I always cut the baking paper into strips that fit on one and the other joint, so that they lie like a cross in the shape. That way I don't get silly corners with too much baking paper.
  5. Toast your sesame seeds and set them aside.
  6. Sugar is melted without stirring and honey is added together with the grated lemon peel and a small pinch of salt.
  7. Butter if necessary. your dough scraper with oil, that way you prevent the sugar mixture from sticking to the dough scraper.
  8. Mix the sesame seeds into the sugar mixture and mix well. Pour the mass into the mould, garnish with chopped pistachios and leave the mass in the mold to cool on the kitchen counter.
  9. When the mass has set, before it becomes too hard, cut suitable pieces before letting them cool completely.
  10. Store in an airtight container
