If you have been on holiday in Crete, you may have become familiar with Raki. The schnapps-like drink is particularly popular in Crete, where it is drunk in social strata.

Discover the different flavors and tastes on this page and bring your good holiday memories to the retina with the best Raki.

Greek Raki in different varieties

The name Raki actually originates from the Middle East, but it is also very widespread in Greece - especially in Crete. The Greek drink should not be confused with the Turkish national drink Raki, which typically contains aniseed, and can therefore be better compared to Ouzo. The Greek Raki from Crete is called "Tsikoudia", while the mainland version is called "Tsipouro".

The traditional Cretan Raki can be found in several varieties with all kinds of flavor nuances. In reality, no two mixes taste the same. The taste depends on the grapes used in the production. How ripe the grapes are, how high the sugar content is and how the acid balance is is of decisive importance for the taste.

Some of the purest and tastiest Raki comes from Aroma of Crete, and it is of course a regular part of our range.

A social drink in Crete

The Greeks on Crete drink the strong drink in social contexts, and it is a drink that connects the people - a bit like our schnapps in Denmark. However, the Greek specialty is far more widespread than our schnapps. It is drunk both with and after a good Greek meal, and it is liked to be shared with friends and acquaintances.

Among tourists, Raki is a drink that divides the waters. While some love the alcoholic beverage, others loathe it. If you have a good summer memory with the drink, you can buy a real Greek Raki on this site and recreate the authentic experience. We offer well-produced varieties of both Tsikoudia and Tsipouro, so you can enjoy a tasty Raki every time.
