Gaia S PGI Peloponnisos red wine 750 ml

In 1978, Marquis Piero Antinori created a vintage at Tignanello from 1971. A table wine that was a blend of the local Sangiovese grape with a small amount of Cabernet Sauvignon, a non-traditional variety of the Tuscany region. At first it seemed strange that Tignanello, the former regional wine, was downgraded to a common table wine without any geographical specification. Nevertheless, it became a wine that won global recognition on the international market as "Super Tuscans". A legendary wine born.

The story of Tignanello led many other wine producers in Tuscany to imitate the Marquis, and so Italian wine legislation followed the trend by creating relevant laws. A new category of quality wines was born. Super Tuscans, has been the catalyst for an entire wine country where pluralism is the key word.

In 2007, Gaia decided to make GAIA S. A blend of Agiorgitiko (70%) and Syrah (30%) based on the history of Super Tuscans and after successful trials and microvinifications with Syrah grapes. You can interpret S however you want. S for Syrah or S for Super Nemea.

The grapes are grown at Gaia's own vineyard on the hillside of Koutsi in Nemea. GAIA S is aged for 12 months in 225 lt French barrels from the Nevers and Allier forests, and bottled without undergoing any filtration or additional procedures. After bottling, they are stored for 5 months before being released on the market.

GAIA S is a particularly deep red-black wine with intense aromas, taste and rich and generous in the mouth. Syrah enhances the structure and aromatic profile of the wine by adding complexity. It is a wine that under suitable cellar conditions can age for more than a decade..
