Greek skin care, like many other Greek products, is made from natural ingredients and with a minimum of additives. Skin care has always been an important part of Greek history, both because of their admiration for beauty and the importance of health among the population. In the "Iliad" Homer describes the skin care ritual as an important part of a spiritual practice.

In ancient Greece, ingredients such as olive oil, Greek yogurt, aloe vera and honey were used to care for the skin, and many of these ingredients are also used in modern products today.

A good skin care routine for both face and body consists in simple form of a cleanser, a scrub and a moisturizing element. With a cleanser, you clean the skin of impurities from the air, regulate the skin's own production of sebum (fats) and sweat and remove any residues from other products such as make-up. With a scrub, you remove dead skin cells and clean in depth, which leaves the skin soft and breathable. Last but not least, you finish with a cream, lotion or similar to restore the moisture balance in the skin.

In addition to that, you can add a little extra care in the form of serums, masks and mists. Routine skin care promotes well-being in body and soul and prevents irritated and dry skin. The skin is left with a beautiful glow and can help prevent signs of aging. The skin is the body's largest organ, and its most important task is to excrete toxins, help us cool down with the help of sweat glands, and protect our insides as a shield against external influences. Therefore, it is important that we remember to take care of it so that it can function as best as possible. In addition to this, beautiful skin is part of the perfect beauty ideal worldwide, and many signs of health and aging are revealed in our skin.

The skin on the face is somewhat thinner than the skin on our body, and therefore it is important to use products designed specifically for the different types of skin. A scrub designed for the body, for example, is much coarser in the grains than one for the face, and can therefore end up doing more harm than good. The skin on the face requires a greater amount of care as it is more often exposed to wind and weather, in contrast to the skin on the body which is often covered by clothing.

In addition to the difference between the skin on the body and the skin on the face, we also have large differences in skin types from person to person. You can, for example, have dry, oily, sensitive or combined skin, as well as suffer from various problems such as acne or sun damage. It is therefore important that you familiarize yourself with your skin and its needs, so that you can choose products that support it as best as possible.

Overall, there are 5 types of healthy skin:

- Normal skin, which feels neither moist nor dry and has a smooth texture and does not require special care beyond the usual. The skin is smooth and mostly unbothered by various skin problems that the other skin types may be troubled by. All of these 5 mentioned skin types are completely normal to have, but the normal skin type is called normal due to its unproblematic nature.

- Dry skin, which without the necessary care can feel tight and rough on the surface, as well as cause discomfort such as itching and cracked skin. If you have this skin type, it is very important to take good care of it, as cracked skin leaves the skin more susceptible to bacteria and infections that can lead to conditions such as eczema. Many people periodically experience dry skin, especially in winter or after a trip to the sea, but some people are genetically predisposed to dry skin all year round, as the skin does not produce enough moisture on its own.

- Sensitive skin is skin that reacts more strongly to various stimuli such as changes in the weather, the humidity percentage in the air and ingredients in care products that are applied to the skin. People with sensitive skin are more prone to problems such as allergies, eczema and other skin disorders. Symptoms of sensitive skin can be redness, itching, burning and a tight feeling in the skin. The skin is often dry and rough and requires more care than other skin types to keep discomfort at bay. The fact that the skin is sensitive is because the barrier is weakened and therefore less resistant to external influences.

- Oily skin is skin that often has visible pores and feels greasy to the touch, and can appear shiny and moist. Oily skin often leads to acne and clogged pores, which are caused by the skin's overproduction of sebum. Oily skin is often genetically determined, but can also occur due to hormonal imbalances, and is often seen in teenagers and people under 30. Oily skin can also come as a result of dry skin, as the skin tries to compensate for the lack of moisture by overproducing natural oils. For oily skin, it is important to use care products with the right type of moisture, which is water-based instead of oil-based.

- Combined skin, which combines 2 or more skin types in different parts of the face. Combination skin is often oily in the T-zone, which is in the forehead, between the eyebrows, over the bridge of the nose and on the chin, and dry, sensitive or normal over the cheeks and jaws. Oily skin can be difficult to care for as the different areas of the skin will require different care products. Here, a toner can be helpful in the greasy areas, as well as a good, water-based cream that provides the right amount of moisture for the entire face.
