ΒΑΣΙΣ is a Danish-language grammar in ancient Greek intended for teaching in upper secondary school and other similar elementary education.

The book contains a description of the basic morphology and syntax of the classical Attic language and also has a number of aids for working with text reading and written assignments. The grammatical review is divided into 20 numbered sections which are divided according to the decimal class method and deal with sound and writing (1), morphology (2–10), syntax (11–17), word formation (18) as well as morphological and syntactic analysis (19–20 ). This is followed by a similar, shorter description of the other Greek dialects based on their differences from Attic.

The book's first numbered section on sound and writing also contains concise descriptions of a number of the sound developments that historically led to the classical Greek language. These are provided to support the learning of apparent irregularities in morphology by providing explanations for why certain irregular shapes look the way they do.

The book also contains a number of aids for the student:

At the front of the book there is a table of contents which is structured as a systematic index and gives the user a quick overview of the book's structure. In addition, there is a new, thorough guide on how students can understand and use the structure of the book in practice.

At the back of the book, the overview of the 60 most common irregular verb base forms and the index of difficult verb stems can help the student find unrecognizable verb forms in a text, while the complete overview of all conjugations of the verb in paradigms I–V helps to identify exactly which form of the verb it is. The alphabetical index shows where a large number of grammatical terms are treated in the book, while the Index Græcitatis contains Greek words and endings with reference to where they are treated.

At the very back of the book is Chilias , a list of the 1,000 most common nouns, adjectives, verbs and adverbs which, together with function words, can make up up to 60–80% of the vocabulary in an average Greek text.

This fourth edition of ΒΑΣΙΣ is the most thoroughly revised edition to date. A new user guide has been added, the system of the decimal class division has been tightened up, and countless small adjustments have been made to the content to clarify the text and improve examples, including a fundamental reformulation of how objects are analyzed and an addition to the verbs in Chilias of which case their objects normally stands in. Contemporary model answers to syntactic analyzes have also been added, which are provided with three examples of the currently common ways of setting up answers in upper secondary education. For the first time since the first edition in 1994, the entire book has also been re-edited, in a smaller and more user-friendly format than previous editions.
