The Dictamus plant is an herb that grows on the Cretan hillsides, and has a long history that can be traced all the way back to Homer and Aristotle!
The Cretan mountain goats are well known to love the Dictamus plant and have been seen specifically going after it despite dangerous slopes and escarpments.
The herb is said to have over 70 useful properties, and is widely drunk by the Greeks when they have an upset stomach or a cold.
The leaves have small, light hairs on the surface to protect themselves from the harsh sun and the dusty environment it grows in. These fine little soft hairs can both be seen and felt even when dry! This is why this wonderful herb has also been nicknamed "Hair herb" (malliaróchorto).
